FAQ

IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimers

Why are you holding an online Walk?

As we collectively learn how to deal with the challenges of Covid-19 one thing holds true the Alzheimer Society remains committed to supporting Canadians living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and those who care for them. The need to fund our programs and services does not go away.

This year, there is an opportunity to connect our communities in new, creative ways. Therefore, the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is moving online, culminating in a live streaming national event that connects Alzheimer Societies from across the country on Sunday, May 31st. Participants will connect, from a distance. We will unite under the rallying cry “The Time Is Right. Now. Join. Walk. Help.”

What is a Virtual Walk?

The Walk will be broadcast live to Facebook and the Walk for Alzheimer’s website. Join Alzheimer Societies coast-to-coast, starting at 9am PST/noon EST on Sunday, May 31st, for a fun and exciting televised event from your computer. The event can be watched from anywhere with an internet connection! Participants will be encouraged to participate in the Walk in an area of their choice, for example in backyards and living rooms, while remaining compliant with physical distancing guidelines.

The broadcast will cross to each province for stories and encourage people to donate. It allows you to participate in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s by connecting- online. You choose when and where you walk, whether indoors on a treadmill or outdoors at the local park.

How does a Virtual Walk work? How do I take part?

While we may not be participating together physically, we can still have fun as a group! Challenge your friends, family members and co-workers to climb the most stairs, track the most steps on their Fitness tracker, run around the block, etc. We encourage you to set a fundraising goal together and organize fun challenges to reach your goal.
