John's 2021 Walk for Alzheimer's
I was 8 years old when my Grandma was admitted to long term care with dementia. This was in Northern England in the late 80s, and despite best intentions of care staff it was an awful time for us. The knowledge and approach just wasn't there. When I look back on her experience, and that of my family, it is with sadness, frustration, and sometimes even anger. As an adult, I find myself at the helm of a Society that exists to ensure that no Nova Scotian has to endure this, and no Nova Scotian has to face this journey alone.
Like most, the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia has been hit hard by COVID-19. The impact on fundraising has been immense. But we are more determined than ever to remain in place to support those who need us, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure that happens.
The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's remains our biggest fundraiser - even though this year, once again, it can't happen in person. Instead, we are going virtual.
I have made a personal pledge of $500 to this cause that matters so deeply to me; my hope is that with your support, I can at least double this amount.
Thank you for whatever donation you can make. No matter how small or big, you are making a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia. Select the button on the right to Donate Now!
