Welcome to My Page
Thank you for supporting my family's journey to fight Alzheimer’s disease. As many of you already know, this horrid disease has struck my family far too soon as my dad was only 59 when first diagnosed - far too young. When people first hear that my dad had fallen victim to this disease, they were often just as shocked to hear of his diagnosis due to his age and because of the lifestyle he lived. But Alzheimer's, much like other diseases, does not discriminate - it welcomes anyone. And where it differs is that there is NO cure and there are NO survivors. NO child should have to reintroduce themselves to their parent time and time again. And every child deserves the privilege of getting to know their grandparent in the most magical of ways.
By 2031, 1.4 million Canadians will have dementia. That’s only 13 years away. This year I have committed to participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s because we need to do better. We need to fight for our loved ones who can no longer fight for themselves - we need to further support the research and find a cure! In addition to this, we need to continue to provide programs and services to not only those with this disease, but to their caregivers as well - people like my loving momma who in some ways, suffers just as much if not more.
The Alzheimer Society of Peel provides essential programs and services that work to effectively alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias within our community. By making a donation to me, or to anyone on Team BarboPapa, you are helping Alzheimer Society Peel to continue its important work towards a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. On Saturday June 2nd, my family and I will be walking for Papa and the countless others who need our support - who will you walk for?
Thank you again for your kind and generous support. Together, we can find a cure!
